Chocolate Fest 2018

Arts for Learning’s annual Chocolate Fest fundraiser is taking place on April 14th at the Indianapolis ArtsGarden in downtown Indianapolis. Chocolate Fest will feature tastings from Indiana’s celebrated chocolate vendors, as well as interactive performances from Arts for Learning’s teaching artists. Adult tickets are $15 pre-sale and $20 at the door. Child tickets (ages 3 to 13) are $5.

All proceeds for Chocolate Fest benefit Arts for Learning, the oldest and largest arts in education organization in the state, serving more than 50,000 students every year. Arts for Learning provides quality programming through our professional teaching artists in schools, community centers, after-school programs and more.

ArtZone! at Chocolate Fest 2015

By Taylor Fengya

As always, we will have an Art Zone area at Chocolate Fest for the kids and the kids at heart! A ticket to Chocolate Fest will not only allow you to sample chocolate desserts, beverages, beer, and wine, but it will also give you the opportunity to participate in a number of different art stations in the Art Zone area.

This year, we will have five high school students and Arts for Learning teaching artist, Jude Odell, running art stations with a variety of activities. These five students have recently completed Arts for Learning’s fine arts summer apprenticeship, ArtForce. For three weeks over the summer, these students received daily instruction from clay expert and teaching artist, Jude Odell, along with a number of specialty workshops in areas such as drawing, comic book art, fabric art, and animation. We are thrilled to have these students and Ms. Odell prepare art activities for this year’s Art Zone area!

Want to know more about Art Zone? Come check it out for yourself on Saturday, October 17 from 12—4pm at the Dallara IndyCar Factory. Bring your kids, work on an art project together, and enjoy some chocolate! What could be better?

What to Expect at Chocolate Fest!

By Taylor Fengya

What should I expect this year? Even if you have been to Chocolate Fest in previous years, this year’s event is one that you don’t want to miss! We are holding the event at the Dallara IndyCar Factory which is an entirely new venue to Chocolate Fest. Dallara’s open space, high ceilings, and tall windows will make it a very comfortable atmosphere for everyone! We will have multiple vendors from previous years return, but we are excited to welcome a large number of new vendors. The vendor line-up is very diverse, and we are sure that everyone will find something to enjoy!

Is this event kid-friendly? As in previous years at Chocolate Fest, we will be bringing back “ArtZone” to give children the opportunity to work with professional Arts for Learning teaching artists at multiple art stations. Children can grab some chocolate milk generously donated by Prairie Farms, work on projects guided by professional artists, and walk through Dallara’s Interactive Zone. Don’t worry—Dallara’s Interactive Zone will be open for everyone! To see what Dallara’s Interactive Zone has to offer, check it out here. To view Arts for Learning’s teaching artist roster, click here.

What about adults? Chocolate Fest is not just a kid-friendly event, but it is adult-friendly as well. There will be a separate room for beer and wine vendors at Chocolate Fest this year. Those 21 and older may choose to taste beer and wine samples and even purchase a larger glass to enjoy while at the event. For those adults who don’t care for alcohol but prefer coffee, Hubbard & Cravens will be sampling their delicious freshly-roasted coffee as well.

What exactly is Chocolate Fest? First and foremost, Chocolate Fest is Arts for Learning’s largest annual fundraiser. At Arts for Learning, our mission is to empower children to achieve their creative and intellectual potential through arts in education. In the ArtZone area, your children will have the opportunity to meet and work with a handful of Arts for Learning teaching artists. These artists provide high-quality fine arts programs, residencies, and workshops to schools around Indiana each year. If you happen to meet an artist at Chocolate Fest, feel free to ask them about what they do for us! They would love to tell you!

When is it again? We would love for you to come to Dallara on Saturday, October 17 from 12-4pm and taste delicious chocolate desserts and delicacies from over 20 vendors! Please enter through the main door located at the front of Dallara. Tickets will go on sale on Saturday, September 5. To eliminate long lines and having to pay an extra $5 at the door, we recommend that you buy your tickets ahead of time! As always, be sure to check our social media sites for the latest #ChocolateFest15 updates and news!

Vendor Highlights of the Week!

We are back at it again!  It is time to reveal our next three vendors for this year’s Chocolate Fest on October 17th from noon-4pm at the Dallara IndyCar Factory.  We are excited to announce that Schakolad Chocolate Factory, Louise’s Sweets, and Confection Delights will be joining us for Chocolate Fest this year.  With the variety of chocolate delicacies provided by these three vendors, you will all be in for a treat!

  1. Schakolad Chocolate Factory, a Chocolate Fest 2014 participant, will be joining us once again this year to give out samples of their signature truffles! They will be selling boxes of truffles and chocolate lollipops for guests to take home. Schakolad, which started out as a small chocolate shop and expanded its business to multiple stores nationwide, maintains the “family-owned” feel by making their chocolates fresh at each location. We appreciate Schakolad Chocolate Factory’s willingness to participate in Chocolate Fest again this year and look forward to their participation in the future.

  1. Louise’s Sweets, a Chocolate Fest vendor for the last two years, will return again for this year’s event. Louise’s Sweets will be offering samples of their gourmet chocolate covered Oreos and selling delicious chocolate covered pretzels and crème candies!  If you would like to try Louise’s Sweets, make sure you join us on October 17th!  We are very excited for Louise’s Sweets to return again this year!
